Sky Katz from Disney Channel's 'Raven's Home'
Season 2 of Raven’s Home is back, ladies and gents! The first few episodes already premiered and just like last season, we’re cracking up at every single moment of it. The completely hilarious and nostalgic show is back and with more surprises. Now that Booker revealed his secret to Raven, we can’t wait to see what else this season has for us! We spoke with Sky Katz who plays the next door neighbor you wish you had when you were younger and Nia’s best friend, Tess, who let us know we should be expecting a musical episode.
Other than being an up-and-coming actress, Sky has way more on her plate that we have to give her credit for. We should also mention she recently released the music video for her latest song “Fall Back” which she directed herself. What can she not do, right? Keep on reading to learn more about what’s to come this season and for Sky’s future!
CelebMix: So excited to hear that Raven’s Home is back for season 2! What shenanigans can we expect this season?
Sky Katz: You can expect even more craziness than season 1. We can’t help ourselves – we just keep getting into zany situations! Raven and Chelsea are doing their best to parent us all while holding the household together but end up being crazy themselves!
CM: What has been your favorite scene to film so far?
SK: Every scene in the upcoming musical episode has been my favorite. It’s an episode with everything I love – acting with my TV family, playing basketball and music. The songs in the episode are so catchy! I can’t wait for everyone to see it.
CM: I grew up watching That’s So Raven and I love how the show is still the same vibe. How has it been working with such an iconic cast?
SK: I truly still pinch myself when I look around and not only do I know the cast of my favorite childhood show but I’m working with them on the spin-off. That’s So Raven was always playing on our TV growing up. My older siblings and I have watched every episode at least 50 times.
CM: Not only are you an actress but you rap too! When did you first step foot towards becoming a rapper?
SK: I’ve been listening to hip-hop with my family my whole life, so the love of it definitely was something that happened naturally. I was about 5 years old when I began memorizing songs and would perform for anyone who would watch.
CM: Do you remember the first song you heard where you were like, “This is exactly something I want to do too”?
SK: Biggie Smalls’ ‘Juicy’ is kind of like the Katz family anthem. It’s been our go-to jamming in the car song my whole life.
CM: You recently dropped your new video too for “Fall Back” and this marks your music video directorial debut! Major congrats. What was it like for you to sit in the director’s seat and also star in front of the camera?
SK: Thank you so much! I am so proud of this video. I loved being able to be creative in every aspect of the video – from my wardrobe to the music and performing – the whole thing!
CM: What were some of the biggest lessons you learned while doing your music video?
SK: I learned how important it is to plan. We had to have a plan and vision for every second of the video in order to make it great.
CM: Can we expect more new music in the near future?
SK: Yes definitely. Whenever I have a break from Raven’s Home, I try to get into the studio. We’re working on a bunch of great songs that I really think everyone is going to love.
CM: Lastly, whether you pursue more acting or spend time in the music industry, how do you envision your future five years from now?
SK: Five years from now I hope to have filmed a bunch of seasons of Raven’s Home, released an album, go on tour, and do movies. I want to do everything!
