The Cast Of 2 Broke Girls Have Experienced Mixed Fortunes Since The End Of The Show
For a period of about six years between 2011 and 2017, 2 Broke Girls ruled the airwaves as one of the most loved sitcoms on television. The series was broadcast for six seasons and 138 episodes on CBS. The network is notable for being the home of some of the best sitcoms over the years, including The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and Two and a Half Men, among others.
Beth Behrs and Marvel star Kat Dennings played the main roles in 2 Broke Girls, as Maxine "Max" George Black and Caroline Wesbox Channing, respectively. The main cast was also complemented by Garrett Morris, Jonathan Kite, Matthew Moy, and Jennifer Coolidge.
About one month following the release of the show’s final episode, CBS announced that 2 Broke Girls would not be returning for a seventh season. There were some unsavory reports about the motivation behind this cancelation, with claims of sexism and racism being levied against the series.
Since then, these main stars of the Emmy Award-winning sitcom have gone on to experience very mixed fortunes in their respective careers.
Updated on April 26, 2023: While many fans were hoping for a season 7 of 2 Broke Girls, the show ended up wrapping after its sixth season in 2017. Since the wrap, many of the stars have gone on to book prominent roles in various productions, many of which have projects coming out later this year, such as Garrett Morris, Matthew Moy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Jonathan Kite.
8 Season 7 Never Happened... So What Happened To Kat Dennings After The Show Wrapped?
Kat Dennings was the main star of 2 Broke Girls and has arguably gone on to do the best of the cast since the show was canceled. She was already playing Darcy Lewis in Marvel's Thor film series before starring in this television show. Dennings played a character that she later reprised in the Disney+ miniseries WandaVision.
Dennings also enjoyed main roles in SyFy’s Dallas & Robo, Dollface on Hulu, and the movie Friendsgiving in 2020.
7 Beth Behrs Has Stuck With The CBS Network
Unlike Kat Dennigs, Beth Behrs has not quite enjoyed the same heights she did while starring in 2 Broke Girls. The actress featured in one episode of The Big Bang Theory in 2018.
In the same year, she also landed a main role in another CBS sitcom entitled The Neighborhood. While such a gig is nothing to scoff at, it is the only one she has enjoyed since the end of 2 Broke Girls. Her starring role in The Neighborhood has lasted five seasons, with the sixth season set to air later this year.
6 Garrett Morris Appeared In Several TV Shows
Garrett Morris was the elder statesman on the set of 2 Broke Girls, and perhaps brought the most prior experience to the show of any other cast member. He has remained busy since the show was canceled, albeit mostly in one-off episodes of various TV shows.
Morris did star alongside Octavia Spencer in the miniseries Self Made on Netflix and enjoyed a recurring role in NBC’s This Is Us. He most recently appeared on an episode of How I Met Your Father and is currently working on two other titles in various stages of production.
5 What Happened To Jonathan Kite After Season 6?
Playing Oleg Golishevsky in 2 Broke Girls is really what put Jonathan Kite on the map as an actor. The role has opened a few significant doors for the actor after the show.
As well as featuring in the Marlon Wayans comedy horror The Curse of Bridge Hollow, Kite also landed serious parts in the shows Dad Stop Embarrassing Me and the animated Cleopatra in Space. While he has not been in any titles yet this year, there are three on the docket that are set to air later in 2023 and beyond, including James the Second and Needle Little Christmas.
4 Matthew Moy Has Been Hired For Many Voice Acting Roles
Matthew Moy is one of the cast members who have not been so lucky to secure any main roles since the final episode of 2 Broke Girls. In the years that followed, he did at least get to continue voicing the character Lars Barriga in Steven Universe on Cartoon Network.
Moy was hired for that role while still working in 2 Broke Girls, however. As well as several one-off voice acting jobs in 2021 and 2022, he was also part of the cast for the comedy horror movie Exorcism at 60,000 Feet in 2020. So far this year, he has been in several episodes of the television series American Auto.
3 What Happened To Jennifer Coolidge After 2 Broke Girls?
Jennifer Coolidge was given much liberty and freedom when playing her character in the show. While most of her colleagues have had more or less defined career trajectories after 2 Broke Girls, Jennifer has charted a more up-and-down path.
Coolidge almost completely went AWOL in the immediate aftermath of the show, but would later revitalize her career with roles in Swan Song, Single All The Way, The White Lotus, and The Watcher, among others.
2 Ryan Hansen Has Bounced Between TV & Movies
While likely known for his role in Kristen Bell's series Veronica Mars, Ryan Hansen has been cast in a number of various movie and television roles since 2 Broke Girls. Among these productions is when the actor featured in the fourth season of A Million Little Things on ABC.
Hansen has found a bit more luck on the big screen, all the same, with main roles in The Turkey Bowl and Good on Paper. 2023 has been kind to Ryan, however, as he landed a spot in the film The Donor Party as well continuing his role in the TV series Party Down.
1 Brooke Lyons Starred In A Few Different TV Series
Brooke Lyons was last seen in 2 Broke Girls in the 11th episode of the sitcom’s first season. Like Hansen, most of her work on TV since then has been in singular episodes of different shows.
She did, however, play leading roles in Life Sentence on The CW and Paradise City on Amazon Prime Video. Some of her other prominent works in the last few years include Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, Reasonable Doubt, and most recently the film Some Other Woman.
